The fuller title to this course is Ten Chapters All Catholic Should Know Like the Back of Their Hand (in Addition to the Ones Most Already Know Pretty Well).
A widespread perception among many Catholics and non-Catholics alike is that the latter are the real Bible Christians. The most compelling way for Catholics to correct this impression is by ensuring and demonstrating that we actually do know and love the Bible as God’s sacred and living word and the Church’s most treasured writing. And one way to do that is by becoming more conversant with passages which are especially foundational and informing of the Faith—not merely, or even primarily, so that we might be able to answer Protestant claims and objections, but so that we might grow closer to the Lord and more confident in what we believe and why.
This course represents an attempt to identify ten key passages across the Bible’s two Testaments which should be of particular interest and value to every Catholic, besides the more popular passages with which most Catholics are already familiar (like Matthew 16: Peter and the papacy; Luke 1: Mary and the Magnificat; and John 6: Jesus and the Eucharist). Ten Chapters All Catholics Should Know . . . will expand that scope by focusing on richly informing selected passages in books like Genesis, Exodus, Deuteronomy, Romans, Ephesians, and Revelation.
This is a course for Catholic believers who desire to learn and to grow through the joy of discovery, of hearing God’s voice in places they might not have considered, or seeing in fresh light the Faith they already hold dear.
