Leadership Training

“what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” (2 Timothy 2:2)

“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest” (Matt 9:37-38).

Heeding the call of our Lord and evaluating the current needs of the Church, the Emmaus Institute offers a Leadership Training Summit that equips individuals to be active leaders and missionary disciples in their parishes, organizations, and vocations.

The Leadership Training Summit is a one-day experience (8am–3pm) during which parishioners are given training as well as time for discussion and prayer to consider how Jesus is calling them to participate in “building up the body of Christ” (Eph 4:12), specifically in the ministry of learning, loving, and teaching God’s Word.

First, participants will learn what makes Scripture the Church’s most treasured text, and how rightly to approach the task of reading and interpreting it.

Just as dough must be kneaded before it becomes bread to serve, participants will be led through examples of the study involved in the interpretation of selected Bible passages before their presentation.

Finally, participants will be led through the “nuts and bolts” of planning to lead a study, with the opportunity to walk and talk through prepared study materials with fellow participants.

FAQs

How can I schedule a Leadership Training Summit at my parish?

Anyone is welcome to submit a request form via the links above or below. It is generally recommended though that a form is submitted with the approval of your parish pastor and/or leadership team.

How much does this training cost?

The cost of a Leadership Training Day is $1,500 as well as the price of lunch for the group. The Summit is a valuable training opportunity for ministry leadership and staff in an age that is largely devoid of familiarity and confidence in God’s Word. The Emmaus Institute is committed to equipping this and successive generations of Catholics to know, love, and teach God’s Word as a response to the new evangelization and a participation in the Holy Spirit at work in the Church today.

Who facilitates the Summit?

Leadership Training Summits are put on by the faculty of the Emmaus Institute.

I would like to attend a Summit but my parish is not currently hosting one. Can I attend another one?

You are welcome to attend another scheduled Leadership Summit as long as it is open to the public (see below; some Summits are closed to specific groups). If you are able, we recommend a $50 donation to cover the additional materials, space, and food per person.

I have already attended a Summit. What do I do next?

After attending a Leadership Training Summit, participants are invited to prayerfully consider how the Lord is calling them to become a leader in their lives and parishes. If you are not already involved in a specific leading ministry, a great place to start would be meeting with your pastor to seek his guidance on how you can participate in the mission of your parish.

If you enjoyed the content of the Summit and would like to receive further training in studying and teaching the Scriptures, please consider joining Emmaus for our New Creation Certificate track in biblical studies. More information can be found here.
