Read the daily recap with Joshua Burks:

Fellow pilgrims,

Today was a day of significant grace. After a traditional morning of cappuccino and cornetto, our pilgrims were invited to reflect on the Cross of Christ, using St. Francis of Assisi and St. Paul as our guides. The Cross of Christ is an abiding witness and invitation to make a true gift of self for the sake of the other (cf. Phil 2:3). The irony, then, is that in this gift of self is where and when we receive and understand our own selves (cf. Gaudium et spes, ยง24). It is this Cross of Jesus that reveals in full what it means to be God and what it means to be man, made in His image.

After the morning reflection, we visited the Eremo della Carceriโ€”the mountain hermitage outside of Assisi where St. Francis spent many days of his life in prayer, service, and ecstasy. We visited the rock on which St. Francis used for a bed. We also celebrated Holy Mass on the mountain at the Altar of St. Francis. Words will fail to describe the powerful graces that were experienced at the Eremo.

Then, as if these gifts of grace were not enough, our pilgrims departed Assisi and entered into the Eternal City, only to be greeted and blessed by His Eminence, Robert Cardinal Sarah.

It continues to be a deep joy to share these graces with each of you as well as invite you to continue in this journey with us through accessing the talks and content of each day. Thank you for your companionship and prayers; please know that you and your intentions are close in our hearts and in our prayers as we visit these holy sites.

In Christ,

Josh
